Journalist Scott Gurian will share stories and images from the 18 country / 29,000 km road trip he took in a Nissan Micra from the UK to Mongolia (and back) as part of the 2016 Mongol Rally. Over the course of 7 weeks, he and his friends drove across 8 time zones and 5 mountain ranges, suffered countless breakdowns, narrowly averted a military coup, and had to get rescued after getting stranded in the wilderness. He documented the journey on the first season of Far From Home, his travel documentary podcast, and as part of the presentation, he’ll also play some clips from other stories he’s covered in his travels around the world.

Scott Gurian is an award-winning public radio and podcast producer from New York. Among his many adventures he’s reported on over the years, he’s wandered through abandoned buildings in Chernobyl, attended a film festival in a refugee camp in the Sahara Desert, and participated in a hallucinogenic healing ceremony in Peru.
